- Design, develop, and implement ETL solutions using IBM DataStage to meet business requirements and data integration needs
- Create and maintain DataStage jobs for extracting, transforming, and loading data from various sources to data warehouses or target systems
- Analyze business and technical requirements to determine optimal ETL design specifications
- Optimize DataStage job performance through tuning, partitioning, and parallel processing to handle large data volumes
- Develop and manage robust, scalable, and reliable data pipelines to support business operations
- Troubleshoot and debug DataStage jobs experiencing errors or performance issues
- Create comprehensive technical documentation including ETL designs, mapping documents, and operational guides
- Collaborate with data architects, database administrators, and business analysts to ensure data quality and integrity
- Implement data quality checks and validations to ensure data accuracy and consistency
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing for all DataStage jobs
- Manage metadata and version control using tools such as Git or SVN
- Conduct regular monitoring and maintenance of DataStage jobs to ensure smooth operations
- Implement ETL development best practices including error handling, logging, and recovery mechanisms
- Provide support and training to team members on DataStage usage and development
- Work with InfoSphere Director for job scheduling and execution monitoring
- Handle DataStage job migration across environments (development, testing, production)
- Contribute to capacity planning and performance tuning of DataStage infrastructure
- Understand and implement data governance and security policies in ETL processes
- Stay current with IBM DataStage technology developments and IBM Information Server suite updates
🧠 Responsibility
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is typically required.
- Specific experience with IBM DataStage is often required, ranging from 2+ years for developer roles to 3+ years for administrator roles.
